WUNDERKAMMER: Cabinet of Wonders
Inglewood CA 2018
Technologies:
Digital Images Printed on Glass,
Digitally Mapped and Perforated Metal,
LED Light
The project takes its form from the Wunderkammer, collections of extraordinary objects. Here, it weaves together a personal and community story that unfolds through image, object and text.
As one enters, the 2-story backlit digitally designed perforated metal screen becomes the focal point for the building.
The installation spans the entire lobby wall and extends across both floors to create an abstracted digital mapping of the city. Internally lit glass boxes hold unique objects of memory that tell a poetic history of this community. Writings and photos link past and present. The wash of colored light seen through the perforations provides a vibrant background to the surface.
