The West Coast flagship salon and headquarters for KMS and Goldwell hair care is located in a mid-1920s brick building within a busy retail district of Santa Monica. It features a full-service salon, training academy and corporate offices. 

 

 

The design palette is intentionally neutral, a canvas for the alternating activities of the two companies. 

 

 

The project is entered through the salon at 2nd Street. KMS corporate offices are located at the rear of the building. The academy acts as a buffer between the private space of the offices and the public space of the salon. Glass walls give the space transparency while still maintaining privacy and organization. 

 

 

Changing graphic displays of imagery and video weave throughout the public and private spaces, providing opportunities for communication, training, and branding.
